20th of February 2012, was an ordinary day? Not at all! We had our Advisory Committee meeting 2012 for the Master in Corporate Communication!

For us, MCC direction team, this meeting is of imperative importance. We see it as an occasion in which we are able to discuss with first class professionals about what is essential nowadays in order to educate professionals in Corporate Communication.  What kind of skills do you think young graduates usually lack? What kind of additional skills and training should be provided by Corporate Communication academic programs?  What is next in the profession? These are only some of the questions we debated.

The meeting was really a success not only because of the interesting discussions we had.  We believe it was an accomplishment especially because we saw that our committee members were really committed to share with us their beliefs and ideas. They are all first class top professionals who have a busy agenda. Nevertheless, despite this, they really prepared for the meeting and came with very good refreshing ideas.  For us, people having a passion in education, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing top professionals caring about the education in the area of corporate communication and the hard work we do. For this reason, we’d like to publicly thank them. To …

Valentina, the meeting was unfortunately not in an open format round table. Two reasons. The main aim of the committee meeting is to advice program direction of future choices to refresh the MCC. Also, as our committee members are international we choose to have a virtual meeting format.
Main outcomes are that young graduates need to get trained to nest communication tools in a corporate strategy (typically they only come with tools). Also, they need to acquire project management, research, writing and presentation skills. It is also fundamental that they acquire business knowledge and develop a critical mind toward the profession.
We discussed in the committee about how our IE Master in Corporate Communication provides these elements (typically a lacking in young graduates). I can tell you that, well, you will have a competitive advantage compared to other graduates from other CC programs!
The final project, in which you will work on a real consulting case in groups will be the last building block providing you the final shape of all these skills which you already acquired through the MCC.
Be ready!

That sounds terrific and gives a moral and motivational boost for all of us to excel in this field!

Great Job and thank you for all the effort you are pulling to shape us into the future leaders we are looking for from within ourselves!

ps. two days ago, I ran into Prof. Shymko and explained how my writing and research skills have improved drastically when compared to some writings I did just few months before the program. This is all overwhelming for me.

Hussein, I am happy to hear this! and I am sure that you will learn even more in the last months of the program!
