PRESSPAUSEPLAY

Written on June 29, 2012 by jrodriguez in News

While I was watching this documentary I had a nostalgic time, probably because the MCC will finnish next week.

PresPausePlay is a Swedish production and it would have been the perfect starting point for one of our conversations in one of the first courses back in the first term, Cultural Industries. I highly recommended it since it raises a question that everyone should think about it, especially for those who are taking a cultural industries course: Does democratized culture mean better art or is true talent instead drowned out?

The film contains interviews with several of the most important digital creators, musicians, writers, journalists, filmmakers, university professors and so on.

Despite his age (90), I would like to finish with a quotation from Chris Marker, one of the most innovative film creators of our times.

“The democratization of the tools implies many technical and financial restrictions but we still need to keep working hard. The fact that everyone can own video camera it does not give talent to a person who does not have it”.

Enjoy It!
